Job Description

The Opportunity

The School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment is seeking a Research Fellow in Geodynamic Modeling & Surface Processes to join a multi-disciplinary team.

In this role you will investigate the physics of surface processes at the intersection of geomorphology and geodynamics. As part of a vibrant team spanning across Australia and Germany, the Research Fellow will utilise high-performance computing and geochemical modelling to decipher atmospheric CO2 removal mechanisms over geological timescales. The research involves integrating surface process simulations with tectonic frameworks to quantify how weathering, erosion, transport, and sedimentation governed carbon budgets throughout the Cenozoic. By bridging landscape evolution theory with carbon sequestration science, the Research Fellow will establish a physical basis for understanding Earth’s long-term climate resilience and planetary-scale carbon management.
