Job Description
Lab Technician Position: Molecular Methods and Culturing in Microbial Ecology and Evolution.
The Oliverio Lab (https://oliveriolab.org/) in the Department of Biology at Syracuse University is seeking a motivated, organized, detail-oriented research technician to work on the molecular-level activities of environmental microbes and perform experiments with synthetic microbial communities. Applicants with either a Bachelor's or Master's are welcome to apply.
The technician will be responsible for:
+ Working with graduate and undergraduate students to maintain a lab space.
+ Purchasing supplies and maintaining chemical and lab safety standards for the lab.
+ Training students in molecular methods.
+ Growing microbial cultures.
+ Setting up ecological experiments with microbial cultures.
+ Performing DNA/RNA extractions from cultures and environmental samples.
+ Running established bioinformatics pipelines asso...
