Residency Artist Lab: Laundry as Process in Manila & Taipei

Co-curated and facilitated by artists Ness Roque (the Philippines) and Ming-Chen Lee (Taiwan), the 2026 ADAM (Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance) Artist Lab will take place in Manila and Taipei.

Entitled ‘Laundry Days’, the programme invites artists to reimagine ways of connecting with things, people, and social landscapes in the context of arts not merely as the creation of something new, but also as sorting, inspecting, soaking, washing, removing dirt, drying, hanging, and folding. Perhaps one brings their laundry to a river where people gather, or to a self-service laundry to watch clothes spin and observe other baskets.

This Lab proposes how collective process could transform temporary residency and gathering, and what ‘Laundry’ as an attitude or methodology would feel like.
