Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, and technical functions of the Respiratory Therapy Services within Burnaby Hospital. Responsibilities Performs respiratory care to patients in accordance with established standards and procedures and/or as prescribed by physician such as initiation and education of patient to prescribed inhaled medications, breathing monitoring tools, mechanical ventilation on adult, pediatric and infant patients as prescribed by physician. Performs diagnostic testing, initiates oxygen therapy, and assists with home oxygen therapy. Provides artificial airway care, performs non-invasive physiological monitoring, obtains invasive arterial blood gases, and inserts radial arterial lines. Performs invasive endotracheal intubation; attends cardio-respiratory arrests.
