Salary is now the leading factor for professionals when considering a new role in the UK marine or maritime sectors.


That’s according to a new report from UK recruitment firm Marine Resources that sets out the latest trends in pay, benefits and employment across the sector.


As Marine Industry News reports, the Marine Industry Salary Survey 2026 signals a shift from previous surveys where salary did not rank as a leading consideration.


Evolving expectations around benefits, leadership, career progression and workplace culture are also reflected in the feedback from more than 1,000 marine industry professionals who took part in the survey.


Pay pressure is a key takeaway, with salaries in the marine sector rising at a slower rate than the UK national average. More than 60 per cent of those surveyed said they feel they are not paid fairly.
