Scientist III/Sr. Scientist, Strain Engineering

The Scientist in Strain Engineering is a highly motivated scientist working to engineer microbial strains for the production of valuable natural products. They have a strong background in DNA assembly and genetic engineering techniques as well as microbial metabolism and physiology. The ability to communicate well, and to interact with others in a small, dynamic and fast-paced environment, is essential.

Responsibilities Include:

• Engineer microbial strains for the production of valuable natural products
• Design and evaluate expression and activity of new enzymes and entire pathways
• Develop and test metabolic engineering strategies to improve key performance metrics
• Evaluate engineered strains in small scale assays and work closely with the fermentation team to validate strains in tanks
• Critically evaluate data to understand how strain genotype effects small and large scale performance and physiology
