The Bail Support Service seeks to support individuals who are remanded, or at risk of being remanded in custody, to apply for and maintain bail while making positive changes early in their justice journey. Support is provided to defendants and their whānau to address unmet social needs across prison, court, and community settings. At sentencing, Bail Support Services provide the Court with information on a defendant's progress on bail to assist judicial decision-making.
