Senior Regulatory Specialist Assurance & Monitoring

Overview

Senior Regulatory Specialist – 2‑year fixed‑term, 2x positions in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to technical performance reviews of Territorial Authorities (TAs) and Building Consent Authorities (BCAs).
• Monitor, analyse and report on regulatory system performance.
• Provide expert advice on building control issues.
• Develop insights and recommendations to improve regulatory outcomes.
• Engage with councils through education, guidance and support.
• Coach and mentor team members to build capability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across government and the building sector.
• Contribute to MBIE’s broader regulatory stewardship role.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of the Building Act and regulatory frameworks.
