Senior specialist pharmacist

Position Purpose

Lead pharmaceutical policy development, medicine‑use evaluation, and clinical governance within the HPU. Provide advanced pharmaceutical expertise, support HPU pharmacists, and ensure policies are defensible, cost‑effective, and aligned with legislation and best‑practice managed care.

Experience & Qualifications

BPharm degree + completed Internship & Community Service

SAPC registration 3–5 years’ managed healthcare experience OR pharma 2+ years’ supervisory/management experience Strong understanding of medical scheme benefits, formularies, and relevant legislation Manufacturing, microbiology, or product registration experience (Advantageous) Key Responsibilities Lead Drug Utilisation Reviews (DUR) and drive evidence‑based prescribing.
