Position Overview

Department of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary is hiring a Sessional Instructor for the course ENEL 670 – Power Systems Analyses Applications during Fall 2026 (September 1 - December 31, 2026).

Course Description

Exact full alternating current power flow analysis with off‑nominal transformers; approximate power flow methods including direct current power flow and linear sensitivity methods; transmission line loadability and reactive power compensation; rotor angle and voltage stability analysis methods; frequency control in interconnected power grids; emerging concepts in modern electrical grids (energy storage, renewable energy sources, micro‑grids, synthetic inertia).

Course Schedule

Lecture: MWF 11:00 am – 11:50 am.

Qualifications

  • Earned at least a master’s degree in electrical, computer or software engineering.
