Become a Shelter Counsellor at YWCA Peterborough Haliburton, where you will provide critical support for women experiencing violence. This contract role includes safety planning and crisis intervention.
This part-time position focuses on assisting women and their dependents fleeing abusive situations. You will support clients with personal safety plans, provide crisis intervention, and share information about available resources. Collaborate closely with the Shelter Managers to meet mandated outcomes, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist women fleeing violence to increase safety
• Support with personal safety plans for women and children
• Provide crisis intervention through 24-hour hotline
• Conduct initial lethality screenings for callers
• Advocate for health and well-being of residents
Requirements:
• Relevant post-secondary education with 2 years experience
