Summer Student - General Labourer (Plant Operations)

Overview

Under the general supervision of the Energy South Manager, Hydro Plant Operations, you contribute to the safe and efficient operation of the NTPC Plant. Duties would include heavy lifting, weed whacking, painting, mopping, cleaning and assisting the Plant Operators and Trades Staff with daily tasks and duties. The successful incumbent will gain experience with and knowledge of plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Responsible to assist a trained Operator in the operation both hydro sites and diesel gensets; meeting the system requirements by synchronization, coordinating loads between units, take units on and off from the system bus manually or using automation such as a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
• Performs and assists work orders on generating units; plant auxiliary equipment, substation equipment, safety inspections, powerplant and yard housekeeping as per preventative and corrective maintenance scheduled by the Manager...
