This individual fills the role of surgical technologist in the Operating Room. They demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and assure all supplies and equipment are available for the procedure. They assist in keeping accurate account of drugs, sharps, and instruments. They are responsible for maintaining and monitoring the sterile field.

Responsibilities
(20%)* Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures. Verifies items on the pick lists. Assures all equipment, instruments and supplies are available for the procedure. Accountable for supplies so that accurate patient charges are billed.
(30%)* Demonstrates proper use of equipment, as well as cleaning and sterilizing.
(40%)* Maintains the sterile environments. Monitors the sterile field and recognizes breaks in technique.
