Market Niche Study for Seaweed Bio-Inputs

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The study aims to:

1. Assess the current market landscape of seaweed-based bio-inputs in the Philippines, with a particular focus on the Caraga Region, to identify potential market and demand volume.

2. Analyze economic opportunities across the value chain, especially for coastal communities and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The study will cover the following:

• Interviews with stakeholders: farmers, producers, scientists, NGOs, government agencies (e.g., DA, BFAR, DOST, DTI, and DENR) to determine possible roles and responsibilities, as well as points collaboration in the scaling-up and sustainability of the seaweed bio-input value chain.
