Tooling Technician

Job Summary

Following general or detailed instructions, concept sketches, tool design drawings, standard and developmental practices and methods apply knowledge of composite tool and die design and construction. Handbook formulas and standard layout procedures are utilized in the analysis, interpretation and application of setups and the operation of machine tools. May be assigned to work independently, referring very unusual technical problems to supervision or engineering.


Job Responsibilities

▪ Cut, shape, trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules, and hand tools.▪ Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.▪ Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects by using touch, visible and precision measuring tools.▪ Assemble or repair tools using welding methods such as MIG, TIG, stick and torch braising.▪ File, ...
