Job Description: Trading Standards Food Officer

Overview

We are looking for a Food Officer to conduct a programme of food inspections for our Midlands local authority client. The contract can be completed on a part time or full-time basis. The client would prefer a Trading Standards Officer, but would also consider an Environmental Health Officer with a background in food work.

Responsibilities

• Enforce food standards legislation by inspection, investigation, sampling and other means.
• Investigate offences under regulatory legislation and take appropriate action under the Council’s Enforcement Policy, including conducting interviews in accordance with PACE 1984 and all other relevant legislation.
• Collect evidence and prepare case reports for possible prosecution in accordance with Council policy and attend legal proceedings, where necessary, on behalf of the Council.
