Job brief
The role of an insurance loss adjuster is to establish the cause of a loss and assess the damage sustained by policyholders on behalf of insurance companies. He/she will also determine whether the loss is covered by the insurance policy. He/she may consult third-party experts such as forensic scientists and building surveyors for the said purposes and prepares reports for insurance companies recommending appropriate settlements.
Responsibilities
*Attend the site of loss to gather evidence and assess the damage
*Interview the policyholder and witnesses to validate the claim
*Consult third-party experts such as forensic scientists, consulting engineers or building surveyors to determine the cause of a loss and extent of damage
*Advise insurance companies and policyholders about repair issues
*Write reports for insurance companies including recommending appropriate settlements
*Negotiate and resolve claim disputes
