Training Programme: Deck Trainee, Engine Trainee

Job Purpose
To develop and train deck, engine and catering ratings / trainees who holds the necessary basic STCW course certificates, valid SAMSA seagoing medical (without restrictions) and provide the required sea time to obtain the first STCW Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) issued by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA).
FUNCTION
The trainee is responsible for applying him/herself to all the study materials, practical training and theoretical instruction he/she will be exposed to whilst on board the vessel. This includes any tasks that are assigned to the trainee by the designated training officer.
The trainee shall always conduct him/herself in a professional and courteous manner and shall comply with all onboard operating procedures, reasonable orders and requests of his/her superiors and fellow crewmembers.
