Underwriter

**Position Summary:**

The Underwriter will evaluate group risks for existing clients and new group opportunities. This position analyzes and accepts risk in order to retain membership, grow revenue and help maintain a profitable book of business. Underwriters are expected to progress through the levels of risk analysis through experience rating, course training, development of analytical skills and effective communication and leadership. Underwriters demonstrate acumen in professional negotiation and problem resolution.

**Essential Position Functions:**

+ Under general direction, prepare data collection and analysis to underwrite assigned clients and groups while consistently exercising independent judgement and discretion.
+ Implement underwriting guidelines, practices and procedures for dental business through sound creative underwriting and business judgment in the timely analysis and evaluation of group insurance risk.
