Utility Operator

TO attain the basic required skill level for a Utility Operator on the Pot Line through on-the-job training. To assist the Assistant Cell Operator, Cell Operator, and Cell Technician in operating reduction cells to produce molten aluminium effectively and efficiently.

• Assists the PTM operator in changing anodes safely and to the required standard by removing and replacing back pot shields, transferring anode reference mark, monitoring the pot voltage, activating/deactivating the anode set logic and anode dressing.
• Assists and ensures that pot beam raising operation is performed as per procedure and in a safe manner.
• Prepares the tapping hole prior to metal tapping, skims the crucible to remove dross, performs metal and bath sampling for quality and chemistry control purposes.
