Vascular Technologist

A Vascular Technologist performs ultrasound and blood pressure studies to investigate the arteries and veins in all parts of the body. They work closely with Vascular Surgeons to diagnose vascular diseases, thus helping in the investigation, management and surveillance of a patient’s vascular disease. Common ultrasound sites include the neck, upper and lower limbs and aorta.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific

• Perform vascular pressure studies in adherence to department protocol, which are inclusive but not limited to e.g. ankle/brachial pressure index study (ABPI), toe/brachial pressure study index (TBI), exercise ABPI and transcutaneous oximetry (tcpO2)
• Perform vascular ultrasound studies in adherence to department protocol, which are inclusive but not limited to e.g. arterial duplex, carotid duplex, haemodialysis arteriovenous fistula/graft duplex, vein mapping, venous reflux and deep vein thrombosis duplex, aortic duplex, visce...
